![]() In the third and last moment, you should conquest Rome, while trying to maintain your settlements due to rebellions and low public order In the second moment, your main goal should be the conquest of the weakest factions near you, so you can strong your position against possible attacks. In the first one, you should quickly upgrade your settlements (population growth) and also conquer near rebel settlements to expand your empire. The game can be separated in three crucial moments. The second mode are the battles, where using the correct unit in the correct moment is the key. Your main objective here is get the best profit possible and get the best technologies quickly. The first one is the management of your cities across the map. ![]() The combat pales in comparsion to Warhammer or Rome 2 and it has the same problem as Shogun 2, a lack of unit variety as all is made up of the same culture, the chinese.Rome: Total War is a strategy game with two separated (but fundamental) modes. You have great spying mechanics and the diplomatic mechanics are like a best of all the other total war games. The campaign mechanics of Three Kingdoms are gorgeous. Its focus is on characters and heroes who are larger than live and who are intertwined in politics in ancient china. Three Kingdoms is a stylized game, yet not as much as Shogun 2. Furthermore another downside of it are its very long turn times in the Mortal Empires campaign of Warhammer 2. The downside is that you really need to buy Warhammer 1&2 to appreciate the glory which is this game which can be quite expensive, yet the battles with magic, monsters, heroes, flying units are a whole lot of fun and it has the most active multiplayer community out of all the Total War games. Warhammer 1&2 are amazing, with the most ammount of diversity, a great modding community and brilliant battles. If you like vikings in britain go for it, otherwise you could pass it. Thrones of Britannia is a solid game, but not the most popular as it lacks variation and content. It offers a lot more indepth to the Rome 2 mechanics but I could never really get into it. I don't have a lot of good words for it, but I'm looking forward to its 1212 Medieval mod. The modding community is also quite well spread with things such as Divide et Imperia being great mods.Īttila is not one of my favorite games and the optimisation for it is trash. DLC like Rise of the Republic or Empire Divided give it even more diversity than it had before. During its release bugs plagued the game but don't let that scare you, a few years after release it is quite good. Rome 2 has a huge variety of factions with an incredible ammount of content as well as mods. Altough for myself it lacks in diversity and if you are uninterested in japan it might not be yours. The naval battles in Fall of the Samurai are incredible good and the best in the series. ![]() It is really good stylized japan and the Fall of the Samurai campaign offers Guns vs Katana. Shogun 2 has a lot of people playing and thinking about it with positivity. It is a bit dated, but when looking at mods like Third Age Total War - Divide and Conquer or The beginning of the Endtimes, you will really value the game.Įmpire & Napoleon are games all about good old line battles and some of the best naval battles, but their campaigns itself are trash and there is a lack of mods. Medieval 2 has a shit ton of mods which give you the option to customize a whole lot.
